One of my many passions is writing! As a writer when you’re not writing you’re reading. Through reading and writing I have met many brilliant writers, gifted story tellers and poets. Many have become my friends. Still others I only feel like I know through having been invited into their imaginations and spent countless hours reading and rereading their stories and poems.

I would like to introduce these friends to you as well. I encourage you to read as many of these books as you fancy. Your mind is a powerful and amazing tool. Combine that with a gifted writer, story teller or poet and you can be quicky drawn in and taken away to a distant land, into a story of cruelty, hope, loss, love, thrilling adventure, filled with twists, turns, anticipation — and with the turn of each page you are more and more drawn into the world of two strong imaginations.

No wonder it is so difficult to put a good book down. No wonder we don’t ever want the story to end.

Please check here often to see what books I am reading and adding. I will be continuously updating my list. Great happiness and peace to you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Powerful, Tender, Frightening and Transcendent Read September 24, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Cancer Poetry is an intimate experience of the disease, and the fear of a body turned traitor against itself as well as the duties and struggles of a woman fighting to care for and protect her family and to stay alive. In 150 plus pages there is rawness, and anger, and fear in a constant battle with hope and love of family and life. If you have a friend or family member who has cancer, there may be a boundary, a line beyond which they will not share. This is a work peopled with intimate thoughts and sensations that no one of my acquaintance has ever shared with me. Yet Cancer Poetry can be so honest that it is obvious to me that these loved ones must have kept similar truths deep within themselves. This collection is an extraordinary work and a gift to the world.
5.0 out of 5 stars Cindy is a WONDERFUL writer!!! September 27, 2012
This book is very well written, Cindy Silva is one of THE MOST expressive and sincere writers I have ever read. Her poetry about Cancer touches and inspires soo many in the Cancer Community as well as in the entire community at large. I highly suggest that anyone who loves poetry, is a survivor, loves someone who is a Survivor, or just plain can read get this book and read every word!!

Raw, detailed and pure emotion. This poetry brings you into the life of a warrior learning how to navigate life with cancer.

This is a must read for any person that supports a warrior, or is a warrior themselves.

Best Mindfulness Books|

A few of my most favorite Mindfulness books by Thich Nhat Hanh.  One day I hope to visit Plum Village.

be free where you are|, by Thich Nhat Hanh|

One of my favorite books by Thich Nhat Hanh.  A transcription of a talk he gave at the Maryland Correctional Institution at Hagerstown – teaching how a practice of mindfulness can cultivate freedom not matter where you are.  A very powerful 69 page book!

Additional mindfulness books by Thich Nhat Hanh that are lovely to read and wonderful mindfulness teachers,

The Miracle of Mindfulness|

Being Peace|

Peace is Every Step|

One of my favorite books on examining why a practice of mindfulness might be something you might be interested in incorporating into your own daily life is a lovely book by the Dalai Lama, a practitioner of altruism and exiled leader of Tibet since he was 16:

The Art of Happiness|

One of my| family favorites| poems representing| Langston Hughes| William Shakespeare| Homer| W. B. Yeats| Emily Dickinson| E. E. Cummings| Robert Frost| Walt Whitman|:

The Best Loved Poems of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis|

Dead People on Holiday| by my friend|, Stephen Jackson|, a wonderful book:

This holiday season why not pick up a copy or two?  A beautiful book to add to your collection and that of a treasured friend.  Why stop there?  Pick up a copy of Dead People on Holiday| for everyone that is very special to you this holiday season!

“The living”, they say, “are dead people on holiday”. Stephen Jackson|’s Dead People on Holiday| is a ten-year testimony to one man’s living death, concluding in acceptance and the chance of a kind of rebirth. The poetry here pulls apart the melancholy of encroaching age and irredeemable failure, with a candour which for most of us has to be kept stifled, silent, perhaps barely even thought. Yet this is a book to surmount despair. If these are life’s ashes, from them a phoenix can rise. “Tight and life-affirming,” this poetry has been called; with a richness comparable to John Donne’s.

The book is also profusely illustrated with the author’s own digital imagery, acclaimed as “stunning” and “hauntingly beautiful”

coming soon to Kindle| best books| best cancer books| best mindfulness books| best books on kindle|

I am happy to announce my own book is coming soon to Kindle.  This morning while blogging I’ve been thinking of keywords to tag to describe my book.  Here is what I have come up with so far:

coming soon to Kindle| best books on Kindle| best cancer books on Kindle| best mindfulness books on Kindle| best cancer support books on Kindle| best cancer survivor books on Kindle| best destigmatize cancer books on Kindle| Youtube| videos| best tools for surviving cancer books on Kindle| best mental techniques to survive cancer books on kindle| best what your doctor won’t tell you about cancer books on Kindle| best cancer survivor’s guide books on Kindle| best meditation book for treatment of cancer on Kindle| what is radiation therapy|

My book starts from the time I first heard quite possibly the five scariest words on the planet, “I’m sorry you have cancer.”   And takes you through my journey to where I am today nearly 4 years later, cancer free!   It provides you with tools you need to destigmatize cancer, mental techniques to use to give you the strength you need to get you through one of the most difficult yet most transformational journeys of your life.   I also talk about my Mom’s journey with cancer, the mindset she used different from my own, what I learned from her experiences and continue to learn from her even to this day.  My Mom fought a courageous battle against cancer and lost her life from complications to her cancer treatment nearly one year ago to this day.  I’ll talk about how to prepare your arsenal of tools| to win the fight against cancer| assemble a great medical team| get second opinions| ask questions| ask more questions| research| bring a friend with you to dr. appointments to ask questions| write down your questions| how healthy eating| and daily exercise| can help you win the fight against cancer| how a practice of mindfulness meditation benefits you| why you should see a lawyer and get the proper legal documents| advance medical directives| wills| nd so much more!

I think I need more keywords and tags to come up with!

Buy one for a friend or a family member that has recently been diagnosed with cancer or is currently undergoing cancer treatment read this important book and it will help you open up dialogue and understand what it is they need to help them get the help they need, when they may not even realize what help they need themselves.  Coming soon to Kindle|
