5 Minute Walk/Meditate Or Pace/Meditate

You can do this one anywhere, anytime. No one will even know you’re doing it.

Try it next time you walk from your front door to your car, or the bus. Or, from room to room in your house. In your office from point a to point b wherever, whenever. There are two ways to do this. One way people will know you are doing it. It will look like pacing. Let’s start with that first:

Pace/Meditate

Fold your hands behind your back. On the in breath take a step and think, “this breath”, on the out breath take a step and think “this step”. That’s it. You’re ready.

Breathe in as you take a step, and think “this breath”

Breathe out as you take a step, and think “this step”

This is a great meditation for people who like to pace. If you are a person who likes to pace you probably would take several steps to each breath. Your pattern would probably be:

Breathe in, take 2-3 steps, and think “this breath”

Breathe out, take 2-3 steps, and think “this step”

It will give you an added benefit of relaxation. You can practice walking back and forth in any room.

More Discreet Walk/Meditate

If you would like to walk and meditate more discreetly. Try combining your breaths with your steps while you walk. You can Slow Walk/Meditate or Regular Walk/Meditate.

Slow Walk/Meditate

Fold your hands behind your back. If you want to be discreet you might not want to fold your hands behind your back unless you usually do that. On the in breath take a step and think, “this breath”, on the out breath take a step and think “this step”. Ready.

Breathe in as you take a step, and think “this breath”

Breathe out as you take a step, and think “this step”

Regular Walk/Mediate

Breathe in, take 2-3 steps, and think “this breath”

Breathe out, take 2-3 steps, and think “this step”

This may seem a little strange at first, but once it becomes familiar to me it is very beneficial.
